While at Epic, employees across the company were invited to share UX ideas for the design of the electronic medical record (EMR) software. These are my sketches for a redesigned patient medical history. I was particularly excited about my idea for a more interactive family history. My hope was that it would encourage more engagement from patients and care providers during a very routine part of the intake process. I also believed that the more visual display of information would lead to more thoughtful review than a massive list of checkboxes.
I learned a lot about user experience at Epic, and it was enjoyable to practice, regardless of whether my idea made it into the final software release.
